What's the Governor's Cup trophy?

Governor's Cup: awarded to the winner every year since the series resumed in 1994.

How did the Governor's Cup start?

Kentucky beat Louisville 41-0 in Lexington on October 26, 1912, in Louisville's first football season. The teams played six times before the series stopped after 1924, and it wasn't renewed for about 70 years, with The Courier-Journal reporting that Kentucky showed little interest. From 1994 to 2006 it opened the season, and since 2014 it's been the last regular-season game, on Thanksgiving weekend. In 2016 Kentucky recovered a Lamar Jackson fumble late and kicked a field goal to upset No. 11 Louisville 41-38, the year Jackson won the Heisman.
