How did the Revivalry start?

Baylor and TCU played to a 0-0 tie in Waco on October 24, 1899, back when TCU was also based in Waco; the school moved to Fort Worth in 1910 after a fire. They met 69 times as Southwest Conference opponents until the league broke up in 1995, and the game became an annual Big 12 matchup again when TCU joined in 2012, which is where "Revivalry" came from. In November 2023 the schools formally adopted "Bluebonnet Battle," for the state flower that lines I-35 between the campuses. In 1971 TCU coach Jim Pittman collapsed and died on the sideline during the game in Waco, and in 2014 Baylor erased a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit to win 61-58.
